Question — “What wallet do you recommend?”

The question stopped me on my tracks. I thought I’ve answered this already. I thought I’ve written about this. But no. So let me answer this now.

Bitcoin is sound money. It’s not printed out of thin air. And no one can stop you from sending it. To anyone.

Lightning is the fastest and cheapest way to send bitcoin. To anywhere.

Lightning is an “open protocol.” It simply means you can use any Lightning wallet to send to any other Lightning wallet.

💡
Ans. — If you want to receive or be paid in bitcoin, but keep the money in pesos . . .

Use Pouch, it's the No. 1 Lightning wallet in the Philippines. It gave birth to “Bitcoin Island” (Boracay).

If you want to receive bitcoin, but keep your money in bitcoin . . .

Use Blink, formerly known as the “Bitcoin Beach Wallet.” “Bitcoin Beach” is in El Zonte in El Salvador, the first country in the world to make bitcoin legal tender, i.e. you can pay bitcoin for those famous junk foods like McDo, Starbucks, etc.

Blink (formerly Bitcoin Beach Wallet) makes Bitcoin easy.

You can also use Wallet of Satoshi. I rarely use this, but it is popular among teachers and beginners worldwide.

Keeping up so far?

You can use any one or all of the above.

Again, Lightning is an “open protocol.” It means you can use any Lightning wallet to send to any other Lightning wallet.

That’s it!

It gets a little bit more complicated from here. But in your journey as a bitcoiner, studying is the most important aspect. If you were “iskul bukol” in school, turn back now. Or, you can re-think your life, and watch a movie first.

Use Muun. This is a “self-custodial” wallet. I will not explain the term now. Muun uses a different approach to Lightning called “submarine swaps” but I will not also explain the term now.

Lightning transfers in Muun tend to be more expensive. But Muun is my favorite wallet of all time.

But with a white one:

There's that famous quote, “If you don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry,” by Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of bitcoin, in response to a thread about scalability and transaction rates on July 29, 2010.

It is applicable to understanding many hard things. Bitcoin is just 15 years old. It is not easy to grasp. We live only once, if you don't get it, it might not be for you. But why not try.

If it is really too hard, take your time, you can work on this first:

“Focus on bringing value to the world. Be self-reliant. Don’t just consume; instead, create. Make money, then save a little in bitcoin.”
